Packing Guide

Bali Luxury Transfer Packing Guide

A considered packing approach — climate-smart fabrics, modest temple attire, and stylish day-to-evening pieces for an effortless Bali stay.

In Short

Packing for Bali rewards a curated approach. Three principles shape every list: climate-smart fabrics for warmth and humidity, modest options for temple visits, and versatile pieces that move comfortably from beach club to fine dining.

The Bali Climate at a Glance
01 Chapter

The Bali Climate at a Glance

Average daytime temperature sits around 28°C (82°F) with humidity often above 80%, and the UV index frequently reaches 11+. Evenings settle to around 24°C (75°F) — a light cashmere wrap or linen blazer is worth packing for breezy nights. Two wide-brimmed hats and high-quality UV400 sunglasses cover most days outdoors.

Daytime Wear
02 Chapter

Daytime Wear

Lean toward natural fibres: flowing maxi dresses, wide-leg linen trousers, tailored shorts, cotton shirts, and a versatile sarong or two. Footwear that moves from villa to street easily — elegant leather sandals or espadrilles — outperforms anything heavier in the humidity.

Evening Attire
03 Chapter

Evening Attire

For women, midi or maxi dresses in silk crepe or similar fabrics feel right at top-tier Seminyak or Ubud restaurants. For men, tailored linen shirts with light blazers and smart trousers or chinos handle every dinner setting on the island.

Cultural Sensitivity & Temple Attire
04 Chapter

Cultural Sensitivity & Temple Attire

Bali has more than 20,000 temples, and most require both men and women to cover shoulders and knees. Sarongs can be rented at the entrance for IDR 10,000–20,000, but bringing your own (and a sash) means you are always ready. Revealing clothing, swimwear, or tight garments are inappropriate in sacred spaces.

Activity-Specific Gear
05 Chapter

Activity-Specific Gear

For beach and water days, pack three to four swimsuits, a rash guard, a waterproof dry bag, and your own snorkel mask if you have one. For inland hiking and waterfalls, lightweight trail shoes with strong grip and a packable rain poncho are essential. For markets and culinary walks, comfortable yet stylish clothing and a sturdy reusable shopping bag work well.

Health, Wellness & Personal Care
06 Chapter

Health, Wellness & Personal Care

Carry a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen, an insect repellent containing DEET or picaridin, and a small first-aid kit (antiseptic wipes, plasters, pain relievers, anti-diarrhoea medication). Aim for 3–4 litres of bottled or filtered water daily in the heat, plus hydration tablets, humidity-suited skincare, and hand sanitiser.

Technology & Connectivity
07 Chapter

Technology & Connectivity

Indonesia uses Type C and Type F sockets at 230V / 50Hz — a universal travel adapter handles every outlet. A 20,000 mAh portable power bank covers long touring days. Local SIM cards are available at the airport for IDR 100,000–200,000. Noise-cancelling headphones, an e-reader, and extra camera memory are quietly indispensable.

Accessories & Footwear
08 Chapter

Accessories & Footwear

Plan for multiple shoe styles: sneakers for active days, elegant sandals for the villa, dressy flats or loafers for evenings, and walking shoes for temple paths. A chic oversized straw hat or designer cap, high-UV sunglasses, a lightweight scarf with multiple uses, a durable luggage set, and a travel wallet for passport and Indonesian Rupiah complete the kit.

Three Principles

How to Approach Your Packing

Climate-smart, culturally respectful, activity-ready — three filters for every item that goes in the suitcase.

01

Climate-Smart

Prioritise linen, cotton, and moisture-wicking fabrics for warm, humid days; pack a light layer for cooler evenings around 24°C.

02

Culturally Respectful

Modest options — sarongs and shoulder-covering tops — for temple visits at any of Bali’s 20,000+ sacred sites.

03

Activity-Ready

Versatile swimwear, comfortable walking sandals, and a light activewear set for diverse on-island exploration.

Ask a Question

How much luggage can your vehicles carry?

The Toyota Innova handles up to 3 large suitcases for 4 passengers; the Alphard takes 4 large suitcases for 5 passengers; the Mercedes V-Class holds 5 large suitcases for 6. Oversized items (surfboards, golf bags) can be accommodated with advance notice.

Do I need to bring my own sarong for temple visits?

Not strictly — most temples rent sarongs for IDR 10,000–20,000 at the entrance. Bringing your own (and a sash) means you are always ready and avoids waiting at busier sites.

What kind of footwear is best?

Plan for multiple pairs — comfortable sandals for villa and beach, dressy flats or loafers for evening, and lightweight trail shoes for waterfalls and temple climbs. Slip-on styles work especially well at temples that require shoe removal.

Are insect repellent and sunscreen easy to buy locally?

Yes, but quality and brand selection are inconsistent. We recommend bringing your preferred brands — especially reef-safe SPF 50+ and a repellent containing DEET or picaridin.
