A month-by-month look at weather, crowds, and pricing — from peak July to the lush, low-season landscapes of February.
Bali sits 8 degrees south of the equator with average year-round temperatures of 27–30°C and humidity of 75–85%. The island has two seasons — dry and wet — but the difference between peak, shoulder, and low season is where the real planning lives.
The dry season runs roughly April to October, and the wet season November to March. Within each, there are sub-windows with very different traveller profiles, crowd levels, and accommodation rates — understanding which window you are entering matters more than the broader dry/wet distinction.
The golden window. Temperatures average 28°C with rainfall under 50 mm per month, ideal marine conditions, and the year’s most reliable weather. Accommodation rates rise 30–40% and the top resorts sell out months ahead — 6 to 9 months of lead time is sensible.
The savvy traveller’s choice. Excellent weather (28–29°C, rainfall 80–150 mm monthly), fewer crowds, accommodation rates 15–25% lower than peak, and the same access to beaches, temples, and marine activities.

Festive charm and lush, photogenic landscapes. Around 200 mm of rain in November, building through December. Tourist numbers spike again around Christmas and New Year, with surge pricing for the last 10 days of the year.

Verdant landscapes, fewest tourists, and the lowest prices — often 30–40% discounts versus peak. The wettest months see 250–450 mm of rain, but tropical rain typically arrives as short, heavy afternoon showers. Excellent for wellness retreats, cultural immersion, and slower travel.

Beyond the month, watch for Galungan and Kuningan (Balinese Hindu holidays), Nyepi (the Day of Silence in March, when the entire island shuts down for 24 hours), and Indonesian school holidays. Each impacts accommodation availability, traffic, and the rhythm of the island in ways the weather chart will not show.
Four broad windows, each with its own trade-off between weather, crowds, and price.
28°C, <50 mm rain, ideal marine conditions. Rates 30–40% higher, top resorts book 6–9 months out.
28–29°C, fewer crowds, 15–25% rate savings — arguably the best overall value.
Lush landscapes, festive Christmas/NY surge in the final 10 days of December.
Lowest prices (30–40% discounts), green landscapes, brief heavy afternoon showers.
